Years of waiting ended today - PL-61 arrived safe from USA
The story:
Some weeks ago I won a PL-61 auction on Ebay USA. Two weeks later I could go to the customs an picked up the package. At home I had a big surprise, there was a CD-player and amplifier inside (harman/kardon - nothing special - 90s). The seller had send me the wrong package.
For more than the auction price he had to make a second shipping. I feel very sorry for him - but very nice person
Today PL-61 arrived safe. Meanwhile I had organized a new belt, an original Pioneer Headshel from 1972 with catridge.....
I had to open the buttom, to change the voltage.
The old belt glued all over the turntable, under the platter. I made a big cleaning and here it is:
Congratulations, Siamac. I sympathize with your shipping mixup. I bought an x-ray machine on ebay that ended up on the other side of the country by mistake, so I'm familiar with occurrences like that. Glad your seller was decent and made things right. After cleaning it looks gorgeous. It's definitely a unique deck--never saw one of those.
Very nice, Siamac.

The tonearm hight can be changed on PL-61, too. How was it called by Pioneer .....

Congrats, it looks like a nice TT! Is that a real wood base? Sure looks like it, from here.

Right, except that's from the manual for the PL-600...which I could really use, as it turns out. Doc, do you have that entire manual available?
Wow, I saw that PL-61 on Ebay. Never seen one before. Glad you finally got it after the shipping mix-up.
Siamac, from a 1973 catalog, here is your PL-61.

Wow...what a beauty! Congratulations Siamac!Howard...x-ray machine?
No other Pioneer TT looks so Vintage
Sweet. There's one of those at my local used electronics shop but it looks kinda beat up. Glad yours cleaned up so well.
How's the sound?
Nice lookin' machine.
No Dam Cd Player Ever Looked That Good lol.

I hope that translated correctly?
I said Wow Is That Nice.
I have a PL-61 also. Probably one of pioneer's best fully manual table. The nice thing about this one is it doesn't have the clunky return mechanism like the PL-50 and has a lower wow/flutter because of the hall motor that it uses and is belt drive also. It has a built in bubble level and adjustable speed control along with the vta. By the way, very nice siamic. |
