azur 540P vs nad pp2 vs phono box ??

what would you prefer ?
l like to listen to rock and pop music
thanks

I own the Cambridge 540P and have heard the other 2 many times...they are all very good buys. The cambridge is very clean sounding...

None of them in my opinion are anywhere near as good as the Rega Fono Mini. It's a new budget phono stage from Rega that is similar in price to the others but IMO much better. I own that one as well in my Rega Mira 3 amp and hooking up the same turntable to both the Cambridge and the Rega are like night and day. The Rega is just a tad less clean and sterile in the midrange but is warmer with much better bass and overall coherence. Even the high end shimmers more naturally...I'm a fan!

They're all great. It's just a matter of personal choice - do you want a separate phono preamp or one that is already built into your receiver/integrated?

I have the NAD PP-2 and very pleased with the performance....and it is certainly affordable.

thanks
i just returned  from the store
i bought  the phono box ll  ( 490 israel shekel = 144$ us )
the prices in israel are higher then in the us    (tax....)

Get a Cambridge 640. It's the big brother to the 540.

Stanton681EEES, I ordered a 640, should have been here today. Hoping it sounds near as good as the Bugle. Do you own the 640 and if so can you comment on what you like and don't like about it?

Udii, you'll have to let us know how you like your phono box II.

when i get the audio technica  110 E  that i ordered
i will make a short review on the PJ phono box II
in this thread

When you get a chance, try it with some other cartridges too.  We'd all like to know

i dont have any cartridge right now

I agree.  In all the reviews I have read the 640P is way better than the 540P.  The Cambridge 640P is a bargain for the money I have read.  I plan on getting one myself in the future.

I ended up with a PP2 because I was able to find it BNIB for a steal.  I'm impressed with it so far.  Compared to the phono-pre built into my NAD amp, the bass response is a bit stronger and the overall tone is a bit clearer.  This is my only frame of reference though...  I doubt you could go wrong with any of those choices (to include the Rega Art mentioned!)

I like my NAD pp2. I run two tables thru it, one with a MM cart and one with a MC cart.
