Cartridge replacement wires
I'm not sure of the exact terminology so excuse any confusion.....I need to replace the four small wires that go from a Shure M97Mxe cart to a Pioneer PL-112D headshell. One of the leads snapped of of one, so I guess I really only need one, but I figured I might as well replace all of them. I could attempt a repair I suppose but I'm a solder novice and those damn things are really small.
Just do a google search for headshell wires. Make sure that your headshell has male plugs on the tonearm side....some don't.
BTW, if you don't have replaceble wires in your headshell, replacement headshells for japanese s-shaped tonearms are readily available.

Here is a link to some very nice wires I have two sets.
If you do a google search with the part number you can find them cheaper than the price listed here.

Cannibalize wires off cheap head shells from MCM, $5.69 each. Buy a couple. The plastic head shells aren’t bad either. The price for shipping can be high so pack your box. Check out the cheap styluses; they are decent.

You can buy them on eBay. Look for Audioquest, but there are others. DO NOT solder them unless you want to destroy your cartridge.
(in the turntable accessories section) They are about $15 a set and they are a joy to install and use
Two of my main TT's have different overhang (The PL120 uses 52mm like a Technics 1200 and the JVC uses 48mm like some Yamahas) so I need to move the cartridges back and forth in the headshell if I'm moving them from one set-up to the other. That sometimes means pushing the cartridge in to the back of the headshell pretty tight (depending on the length of the cartridge body). These great little wires will allow you to put the pins almost right up against each other without a problem. The sockets are covered with shrink tubing so the the biggest problem that all these little wires have, breaking on install, is mostly eliminated. I rate them a best buy - hardily recommended

I quot;splurgedquot; on silk-wrapped too. I'm a big fan of this relatively cheap tweak.
I find that using tweezers to install them makes it much easier. quot;Miracle Pointsquot; which have a sharp point, makes it even better. I have butchered a few wires myself before using this tip.

That's a decent price, I have a couple sets sold under different brand names. AudioTechnica built some great leads under the Vital Links moniker in the late 70's/early 80's. They still have some pretty good ones boxed with their carts.
