Thiel cs2
well, hopefully everything goes well and I can get my hands on a pair of Thiel cs2's for very very cheap!,the guy was very skeptical that I was only 17 due to my deep voice,he even hung up on me because he doesn't want to be harmed for the speakers witch is reasonable, but I called back and we worked things out,now I just have to figure out if I can get the cash out of a few jobs I have done and am doing like workin on my sis's car and on the vega. These will cost $399,they are said to be mint!
What are your thoughts and opinions?
Shawn.
Thiels are another in my quot;Never Pass Upquot; list.Vandy 2cs, Thiel 2.XXXs, Dahlquist DQ10s or above, ADS L1230s or above, IMFs, Allisons, Frieds, BA 100s or above, and few others get the green light here at Casa De Pablo, no questions asked.
Freak it, kid. grab 'em. Dunno where you came from- all I can picture is a red-headed quot;Predatorquot; creature here, but hunt 'em down, and grab 'em if you got the scratch.
Thiels image very well and the soundstage is excellent. I recently thinned out my older 04a's but still have the CS1.2's. Some of the Thiels can be a bit bass shy. And are not ideal for loud rock. The price while not a steal is good.
Well it's a done deal,if nothing goes wrong in this deal then they are mine!!!,I do believe that I will be more then happy with these speakers for $399 and these will complete my A/B listening system no problem! and in high end speakers none the less!!!
Vandersteen 2c's and Thiel CS2's all I need now is a few Krell amps, maybe a Rega turntable and maybe a Tivoli audio cd player. Craigslist has been such a help!
Shawn.
Shawn, keep the Tivoli audo player solution open- I've got sugestions, though that kit is respectable.
As for the Krell amps, yeah, tough to top (but remember Bryston and others), a Rega turntable is nice, but Music Hall is kicking out some good rear, as others.
You're way ahead of the game, so far. Good!
Thanks TDH,dad emailed him also so hopefully he will believe us,I understand the guys weariness and why he doesn't trust many people-lots of spam and the high cost of the speakers! but hopefully we get em.I am so stoked about this and can not wait to get em and hook em up!!!
Shawn.
Good Luck on the Thiels.
Thanks Alex, hope it all goes well,I think they will sound awesome!
Nice!
We've loved our 2.2's for over 12 years now.
Awesome, dad and I may go pick them up today! but not sure yet he may be exhausted after work.
Shawn.
Well fella's,I got the Thiel's tonight,or last night I guess now! they sound awesome, but not as good as the Vandersteen's IMO but very compairable.I would say the high's in the Thiel are a bit sharper then the Vandy's but the Vandy's have that awesome mid!!!deffinetly worth my $400 a nother good thing is the Vandersteen 2C's and the Thiel CS-2's are very close in efficiency, witch means I can listen surround style, should be a fun day tomorrow or today I mean haha!
When I popped the grills off there was this hard core adhesive on them securing the grills to the cabs, is this stock? or was this a retarded customization???
Heres the only pics I have so far-you will see where the two adhesive strips were.
Shawn.
I have a pair of Thiel 2s, like yours except in walnut. I think they sound good but I don't use them as much as my others because the bass is not as solid. The balance seems shifted upward in my room. However, I like them enough to not have sold them. I enjoy them when I do set them up, oh yes, they image really well. Patrick
Very well,I'm listening right now-awesome!
Shawn.
Hi Shawn
I too just got a pair of CS2 from a friends neighbor who blew a woofer and didn't want to be bothered fixing them. I'm in the process of looking for any tech data for these boxes so I can decide to replace with an equivilent, repair original or find original replacement. So a million questions but after living with them for awhile what do you think? Do you have any tech info like x-over points, efficiency, lower 3db point? Not much info on the Thiel site for the CS2 have you found any other sources of info? Thanks and enjoy!
Chris
Shawn your are definitely spoiled....in a good way. Enjoy...
Bill
