This has to have tubes...

gbs/zip/409409319.html

I dunno... the cosmetics of the receiver and that slim-line tonearm say quot;late 1960's solid statequot; to me.

I would have to go with SS as well.

It may be solid state.  The record well is a giveaway that they were able to consolidate some of the electronics.  It doesn't mean there aren't tubes, but it does mean the designers were less concerned about heat dissipation.

The last tube console I scavenged had a record well, as well as a removable metal fascia, where the optional tuner would go... so you can't really go by that either. It does look like early SS to me as well, but so did the console I just mentioned...

Jessie, are you looking into getting a tube rig for yourself?

I'm already in the process of scratch building a tube guitar amp... not moving too fast but it's going to happen.
I guess I might have been wrong. I think of 60's stuff as tubes, and 70's as transistor, but that is obviously an overgeneralization, as this isn't the only late 60's transistor (probably) device, and is probably one of thousands.
