newbi.....HELP!!!! with Crown amps

Hit a garrage sale yesterday(next door) and low and behold there sat a pair of Crown Com-Tech 400 power amps. I picked up both for twenty bucks a peice( sweet deal right?). I've played in bands long enuff to know that Crown makes good stuff so I didn't even ask if they worked. Good news is they both work great. My question(s) to you experts is:

I am planning on building a home theatre with projector etc, should I keep these amps? Will I get enuff low end outta them bridged right? If yes, what are some other good equipment to go with these amps, reciever, speakers and would I need more amps?

thank anyone in advance..Sorry so quot;Greenquot; just a guitar player here wanting some good home entertainment.

Why do you think you need to bridge them to get low end?

Should be about 200wpc in stereo mode, afiak. Wouldn't be my first choice, but they should work OK as long as you don't mind the fan noise.

How many amplifiers you need depends on how many channels of sound you're going to use in your system. If you do 5.1 surround, you need six channels of amplification. The amp for the .1 LFE channel amp is often built into a powered subwoofer.

I'd say you got a good deal on the amps though.

If I were you, I'd sell the Crown amps and buy something more user-friendly.  The crowns are monsters... 200wpc into 8 ohms I believe, but they're commercial amps, they've got fans that make noise, they generate a fair bit of heat, and they have no remote control.  Just pointing out that they may not be the ideal choice for home theatre.  They'd probably be great for a movie theatre.

What's your budget?  What type of music, if any, do you plan to listen to?  How loud does it need to be?  How important is it to you that everything be controlled from a single remote?  Do you need digital inputs on your preamp/receiver?  LFE out?  5.1 channel capability?  DDS/DTS decoding?  HDMI capability?  How large is your listening area?  Do you have decorator (WAF) constraints?

See what I mean?

OK first off thanx,
I am buying a new house soon and the wife has given me my man card back for the time being....In the man cave I get to build a home theatre, my budget is around 20 K.
I want a digital/HD projector
Can live with 5.1 but open to 7.1, but want a good receiver that I can use power amps with.
The remote isn't that important and as far as the amp noise, that shouldn't be an issue, they will be mounted in a rack in another room(control room)
Want kick ass speakers with thumping low end.
These amps came out of a Movie Theatre and they are mint. They don't have the adaptors on the back XLR's though.

So I guess I would like some good great that won't crush my budget, keeping in mind that 20 K has to include the walls, seating and dimmer lights, wireing etc to build the room.
