Bought a cheap speaker, What are these?

Went to a giant yard sale yesterday at a church...

There was this large home made cab, with 2 15quot; drivers in it.. I figured WTF for $5.. take a chance... No way to open it without a screwdriver..

The speakers look to be alnico, fairly large with the sides of the strap over the mag sealed with some type of metal film.  They are stamped baskets. They also have wizzers on them. On the mag, the numbers are M150 1066 521

Anyone have any idea what these may be? It also has a small horn in it.. I'm figuring it was some kids home made guitar speakers.. I figured if nothing else, it might make a good garage speaker.. I hate having anything else out there with all the metal work I do.. I just need tunes.. nothing spectacular.. Gonna hook it up in a few.. .maybe it might not sound too bad with my loner Utah cab..

Yep... for $5 it works for the garage.. nothing special, and might even sound like they could be cheap guitar speakers.. but with that Utah I found too, it sounds pretty good for a garage system. better than an all in one like I almost did.. but then again, I'm running them off my AudioSource Two amp.. would like to get that outta the garage too..

any pix ?

I couldn't find those codes anywhere . . .

I'll tryy and get a couple.. I had thought maybe CTS, but can't find that.. I'm thinking they are just quot;cheapquot; brand speakers, but they do seem to take quite a bit of power... I've been looking around for quite a while, but can't find any of those numbers related to any speakers.

Do they have crossovers, and if so are they home made or professional looking?

No crossovers, and they are wired in series. A wire leaves the top speaker to the horn, and it has a cap in line.. .

I'll try and get a picture tonight.

What model Utah do you have? I have 3 Utah speakers, might have one to match the one you have.

If you swing by my flickr site, it's there on the main page.. cab and all...

I was gonna suggest UTAH.  Those drivers were availiable by mail order and used in lots of project speakers.

Reminds me of University colors.
