Dont know what speakers to get for my old marantz...
I have a Marantz 1300 DC and have no idea what kind of speakers to get. My price range max is probably 6-7 hundred.I will be listening primarily to vinyl on this setup. I love good sound and equipment but am largely ignorant so I am seeking suggestions for speakers or any gear to maximize the sound I get from my vinyl.
Got some numark direct drive tables but with good needles, fyi. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!~Thx~!!!
my Favs:
JBL 4311
Large Advent
Small Advent
Pioneer HPM-100
Acoustic Research AR4x (These are NOT for everyone)
Those are MY recommendations.

What's the power rating on your Marantz? Does it have a high and lo filter? What kind of music do you prefer? Do you usually run your (or other peoples) speakers flat of with loudness control on?
My amp is 150watts per channel. It has filter options and what not but I always have the tone defeat button depressed.
As for the type of music I listen to, mostly classic rock. However I listen to classical, country, folk, hiphop, and electronic music as well. I have old and new vinyl from everything to everywhere.
I suppose I want some speakers that can get pretty loud but at the same time arent just mammoth and would be great for low volume sitting sessions. Thx!
HMMMM I see ADS 810's/ 910's, Infinity Kapa's, or better being a good choice here. There are so many that could fit the bill the choices are many in your price range. Good luck

Thats what I was thinking. At 150WPC and $700 or less, thats ALOT of speaker choices. Heck, he might even be able to find some Yamaha NS-1000m's in that price range!

As long as you're not cranking it wide open.
I throw in support for a pair of L810s in your price range. Would be a very nice set up!
$600-$700? You could get a really cherry pair of Bozak Concert Grands for that. But of course you'd need a very large room to put them in.

You should be able to come in under-budget, too. The only negative I can think of is that they *might* be a little too laid-back and smooth sounding. There are better quot;rock speakersquot; out there if you want something more punchy and in-your-face.
JBL L65's!!....very stylish, big vintage sound- maybe AR90's as well, shipping will be $$$$
I'm with the A/D/S crowd. I think you should start there and see how it goes. Once you have lived with them for while, you can advise on how you are getting along and maybe we can offer some recommendations from that known starting point.
Likely you'll be able to flip the A/D/S whatever you have in them, maybe a bit more
