Mc275 vs Mc252
I have a pair of Klipsch La Scala II's. I have an MDA1000. I also have a Juicy Music Peach Tube Preamp.I have off and on left the preamp out of the equation.
From time to time....I switch back and forth between the Mc272 and Mc252. I've owned the Mc275 V (new) for 4-5 months so I would assume that it is quot;broken inquot;.
Tubes and horns is something I hear a lot as they are a great combination. But the Mc252 seems to appeal to me more than the Mc275. For one...the bass is hard hittin with the Mc252. Very tight. No surprise really.
To my surprise was the imaging and quot;resolutionquot;. The Mc252 seems better in this area too. The Mc275 is dark. Not bad but maybe a little too much for me.
Anyone else had a chance to compare these 2 amps?

I've had my 252 for about a year, just got the 275 about a month ago so maybe I'm still in the honeymoon period. I like the 252 for punch and resolution, the 275 for imaging, holographic soundstage, and magic mids/highs. My speakers have 15quot; woofers and rear ports, the 252 can be a little boomy in the upper bass/lower mids, while the 275 sounds more natural even if the bass is a little less well defined. I prefer the 275 for acoustic, jazz, vocals, and electric guitar, borderline for heavy rock, and like the 252 for big classical (Mahler, Wagner, etc.). Keeping both for now, the 275 hasn't struck me as dark. My only mod is swapping out the stock 12ax7s for RCA 7025s. Listening to Zep II thru the 275 at moderate volume as I type and all is good.
